How Does Deregulation Work?
With the deregulation of the energy marketplace, you now have the opportunity to choose who supplies your energy. Your traditional utility will continue to maintain and operate the Distribution System (pipes, wires, and meters), while competitive Supply System functions such as generation and supply sales will be open to competition. The increased competition will motivate the competitive suppliers to improve customer service, expand product offerings, and improve cost effectiveness in the energy supply industry.

As an independent energy supplier, we have the freedom to offer customers gas and electric supply products that venture beyond the traditional utility's default rate. When you receive supply service from an Energy Services Company (ESCO), taxable customers automatically qualify for a substantial tax break. New York State no longer charges tax on the delivery portion of your bill when you purchase your supply from an ESCO. These delivery charges, which can sometimes equal 40% to 50% of your total monthly bill, will no longer be subject to sales tax. Also, those customers typically subject to a municipal tax can save an additional 1% to 3% on their supply charges. These tax savings are often the biggest reason for taxable customers to switch to ESCO energy supply service.
