2/11/2008    Energetix announces the winner of the "Energetix
                        Excellence in Green Lighting Award"

In conjunction with the Rochester Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society, Energetix announces the winner of the "Energetix Excellence in Green Lighting Award." The annual award was given to a local company and designer who implemented a lighting project that had a positive impact on the environment. This year's award was presented at the Electrical Week Luncheon on February 11, 2008.

The winners are SWBR Architects and Leo A Daly. Their architectural design brings in an abundance of sunlight and dims the house-lights accordingly to save energy in the Roberts Wesleyan College Academic Library. View Library

The design includes energy efficient T-5 fluorescent lighting and innovative geothermal heating/cooling systems. Interestingly, the combined use of T-5 lighting, geothermal heating/cooling, windows systems used, and amount of insulation used results in the library being 39 percent more energy efficient than what the New York State Energy Code recommends, according to NYSERDA.

Natural light is leveraged throughout the building to extend energy efficiency. For instance, to reflect the direct rays of the sun and bounce light to specific areas, white paint is consciously used throughout and solar shades are used in key places.

Energetix will be sponsoring this annual award through 2012.
